Streets, Streets, and more Streets!

Today we walked five long hours without a chance to even sit. I guess that's what you get when you choose to explore Mongkok; one of the busiest and well known cheap shopping destinations of HK. First we hit Fa Yuen Street which ranged from baby clothes to accessories and assorted clothing boutiques on the block. Next was the tourist beloved Ladies market and was very crammed and polluted with smokers (pretty much the whole area was smoke infused.. ugh). The prices were obviously jacked up and more expensive than the street we went to prior as they catered to tourists. I had my first haggling experience though and got Ann's magnet down to 17HK from 39HK!!! Not bad for a noob hehe.

Personally, I was kind of disappointed with my shopping today. I held off a lot of things from the boutiques on the block as I had expected to get a lot from Argyle Center, a mall that consisted of many narrow and small stalls filled with clothes, shoes and accessories for females. I got tired of the narrow walkways and small store fronts that after walking around a few times, we decided it was time to leave Mongkok and head elsewhere (the selection wasn't very good either, verdict: shopping on the block boutiques is better). My favorite part in Mongkok was being able to have my beloved drink from Hui Lau Shan though. A million times better than bubble tea and so refreshing! I strongly advise you to come to HK just to drink these delicious fresh fruits/bird nests/aloe/coconut milk etc. concoctions!
We ended the day at Prince Edward station and went to the popular Flower market street there. There was a four storey building of artificial flowers, wrapping paper, vases, wedding displays, bouquet, etc. The whole block was screaming flower power and they were all so pretty that I couldn't help myself to get a bouquet for my auntie's house. This would definitely be a great place for couples to choose from a wide selection of wedding decor, and a great place to pick up some fresh bouquets (hint hint boys!).

This isn't part of the all the street talk, but before our street adventure started, we stumbled into a display of manikins in a mall wearing dresses all made out of paper (by local designers I'm assuming). They were all so aesthetically and beautifully made, I was impressed.
